@emberlybooks they loved them!!! Isla carries her around and won’t let anyone else see it.
With the Grand Celebration just one day away, your child is determined to make everything absolutely perfect: the perfect crown, the perfect dress, the perfect speech, the perfect dance. But the paint spills, the dance wobbles, and the cake gets a little squashed, and with their loyal corgi Biscuit at their side, your child slowly discovers that the baker, the gardener and the whole singing kingdom aren't perfect either. They are simply brave enough to keep going. A heartwarming story about mistakes, courage, and trying again, this gently funny adventure celebrates resilience and self-acceptance, and the truth that being loved was never about being perfect. Perfect for any child learning that real beats perfect every time.

Everything you need to know about Emberly Books.
The Grand Celebration is one sleep away and your child wants everything to be perfect: the crown, the dress, the speech and the dance. Then the paint spills, the dance ends in a tumble and the cake gets squashed. With Biscuit the corgi beside them, they head into town and notice that nobody else is perfect either.
That mistakes are normal and you can carry on anyway. The line that runs through the book is "Be brave, be you, and keep on going", and it ends with the reminder that being loved never meant being just right.
Yes, that is who it was written for. Your child sees themselves spill the paint, trip in the dance and muddle the speech, then get frustrated, tear up their drawings and start again. Out in the town they find a baker selling wonky pastries, a gardener with crooked flowers and a musician who hits a wrong note, all still enjoying themselves. On the big day things go wrong again and everyone cheers anyway, which gives you a gentle way to talk about their own wobbly moments.
Yes. It's written in rhyme with a repeated line children can join in on, and it ends by asking your child what they will be brave at today.
The Princess Who Kept Going is written for children aged 4 to 8. Younger children enjoy the spills and tumbles and join in with the repeated line, while older ones will recognise the worry about getting things right.
The Princess Who Kept Going has one hero, so each copy is personalised for one child. Some of our other books let you add more characters, such as additional children, a parent, a grandparent or a pet. Each book's label shows who can be added.
Your child becomes the hero of the story. We create an original illustrated character based on your photo, drawn in the book's style, and weave their name and details throughout. Because it's an illustrated character, it's an artistic interpretation rather than an exact photographic likeness, and that's part of the magic.
Yes. For each book, you can browse sample illustrations and a full example book so you can see exactly what the finished product looks like before ordering. You'll also see a preview image featuring your child. Once you place your order, your child's personalised version is then created just for you.
Your child's privacy matters to us more than anything. We use the photo for one purpose only, to create your child's character, and the moment that's done, the photo is deleted immediately. We don't store it, archive it, or use it for anything else.
One clear, well-lit photo where your child's face is fully visible and facing the camera. Avoid sunglasses, hats, or anything covering the face. A bright, sharp, front-on photo gives the best result.
Your personalised book is printed and dispatched within 3–5 business days. Delivery time is additional and depends on your shipping destination. You'll see an exact estimated delivery date and cost at checkout before you pay.
Of course, our books make a lovely gift. We never include prices or invoices in the parcel, you can add a personal dedication, and you can ship the book straight to the recipient.
